It was a day long past when our ancestors roamed the ancient earth. The sun had risen after the hours of dark mystery, and with its warming light came reassurance for those first fragile homines.

As the great fiery orb crested the horizon, a band gathered on a hill to greet its rise. "Rejoice friends, for golden Phoebus begins another march!" cried their leader. The others joined in glad acclaim, faces upturned in thanks for the sun's protection through the long night.

Well they knew the terrors that stalked after dark. With sunlight's shield, nature's bounty could again be gathered without fear of fanged beasts lurking in shadow. Plants drank deep of the sun's nourishment, renewing verdant vigor as the hunters had taught.

See how in this, the dawn of humanity's story, our forebears became the sun's first worshippers. Gathered on high, their upraised forms pay homage in gesture and soul to the glorious orb that was both life-giver and protector from death by tooth and claw.

In grateful devotion do their outlines take form upon the canvas, celebrating Phoebus Apollo's gift of light and the dawn of a relationship that would shape our entire ascendance. Let this first work in the saga of humankind serve always to remember our beginnings, when life followed the followers of the sun.
